Christmas day saw us with multiple record-setting days, two blowouts, and much disappointment for the home teams this year. Both the Texans and Steelers got nothing going and gifted the Ravens and Chiefs the best presents- a win.
The Chiefs clinched the top overall seed in the AFC with their 29-10 win over the Steelers and earned the right to have the path to the Super Bowl go through Arrowhead.
The first record of the day was set in this game when Travis Kelce caught a touchdown pass to extend the lead to 29-10. With this touchdown, he surpassed Tony Gonzalez as the all-time leading touchdown catcher in Chiefs history. Also in this game, Kelce recorded his 1,000th career catch, becoming just the 15th player to do so.
If you ever can’t find Travis, chances are he’s in the end zone.

Kelce also had himself a good game outside the record, going for 84 yards and a touchdown on eight catches. Xavier Worthy also had himself a nice Christmas for the Chiefs, hauling in eight catches for 79 yards and a touchdown. Worthy also rushed for 10 yards. The last Chiefs receiving touchdown went to Justin Watson, who had two catches for 60 yards on the day.
Mahomes continued to show why he is one of the best in the business as he threw for 320 yards and three touchdowns while completing over 75% of his pass attempts. Mahomes has bounced back well from his scary high ankle sprain and does not seem to be hindered by the injury.
In clinching the top seed, the Chiefs will likely rest most of their starters for a majority of their game against the Broncos next weekend, giving them multiple weeks off to get healthy and gear up for the three-peat.
Switching gears now, the Ravens went into Houston and dismantled the Texans, keeping the offense off the board and walking away with a 31-2 victory. The Texans had no answer for the Ravens starpower, giving Baltimore a great Christmas.
Lamar Jackson continued his MVP-caliber season Wednesday, showing why he has won the award twice already. Jackson completed 10 of 15 passes for 168 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed for 87 yards and a touchdown on four carries. With this stat line, Jackson broke the NFL Record for most rushing yards at the quarterback position, which was previously held by Mike Vick.

Derrick Henry had a feast on the Houston defense and did whatever he wanted all day. Henry rushed the ball 27 times for 147 yards and a touchdown. In the first quarter alone, Henry had 86 yards and a touchdown. On the season, Henry now has 1,783 yards and 14 touchdowns, one of the best seasons of his career at age 30.
The One-Two punch of Jackson and Henry has been unstoppable and rivaled only by that of Saquon Barkley and Jalen Hurts. With the Ravens win and the Steelers loss, it is win and clinch the AFC North for Baltimore next week. A loss and a Steelers win would give the Steelers the division back for the first time since 2020.
