JuJu Smith-Schuster celebrating a first down

The Chiefs defeated the Saints 26-13 on Monday Night Football to improve to 5-0. They are the only undefeated team in the AFC.

Statistically, the Chiefs dominated the game even though it was only a two-score game. Kansas City put up 460 total yards and had 28 first downs. The Saints only produced 220 yards and 14 first downs. The Chiefs also had almost double the Saints time of possession, keeping the ball for 39:56 while the Saints only had 20 minutes and four seconds of possession.

Patrick Mahomes put out a pretty good performance despite not scoring any touchdowns. He completed 28 of 39 passes for 331 yards and one interception. He also rushed for 22 yards on six carries.

Kareem Hunt put out a great performance after getting his first start this year. He rushed 27 times for 102 yards and a touchdown. He also caught one pass for 15 yards. This was his best performance in years, but he has played very well in his first two games out of free agency.

Another unlikely hero for the Chiefs tonight was JuJu Smith-Schuster. He caught seven balls for 130 yards and was the main target in the absence of their star receiver Rashee Rice. Travis Kelce also stepped up when needed, catching nine passes for 70 yards. Xavier Worthy was quiet, but was able to score a touchdown on a three yard rush.

The Saints were never able to get anything going and lost Derek Carr to an injury at the end of the game. Carr completed 18 of 28 passes for two touchdowns and one interception. Jake Haener came in to replace him.

Rashid Shaheed caught a long touchdown in the loss, and led the Saints in receiving with 86 yards. Alvin Kamara was next with 40 yards on six catches. Kamara was not able to get anything going on the ground, however, only accumulating 26 yards on 11 carries.

After winning their first two games, the Saints have lost three straight games. They will host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday and look to right the ship.

The Chiefs on the other hand are off to the best start possible. Despite losing Rice and their starting running back Isiah Pacheco, the Chiefs offense has shown no sign of slowing down. They will travel to San Francisco in two weeks, but will look to get healthier during their bye week.
