Linebacker for the New England Patriots Ja'Whaun Bentley suffered a torn pec in Sunday's loss versus the Seattle Seahawks and is now out for the season. The 2018 fifth-round draft pick is a captain for the team and was injured in the first quarter of yesterday's game and was listed as questionable to return.

Bentley, 28, will finish this season with 12 total tackles, 0.5 sacks, and one tackle for a loss. Bently is a four-time captain for the team and has been on the Patriots for seven seasons now. Bentley signed a two-year, $13.4 million extension with the team in July of 2023.
Bentley has had over 100 tackles for the Patriots over the past three seasons—last season totaling 114 tackles and 4.5 sacks over the 2023 campaign. With the Patriots already without Christian Baremore out with blood clots and trading away star outside linebacker Matthew Judon before the season started, the defense is running thin on star power.
This loss makes the Patriots' linebacker even thinner, as they are left with Jahlani Tavai, Raekwon McMillan, Christian Elliss, and Curtis Jacobs. The Patriots also have Sione Takitaki, who is on the PUP list and is eligible to return after week four, and Joe Harris-Giles on the practice squad.

Bentley had more than 100 tackles in each of the last three seasons and was on his way again. A brutal reality. pic.twitter.com/ysMGlNCwkR
Bentley has one more year on his deal with the Patriots. The Patriots hope for a speedy recovery so that the veteran can return to full strength for the 2025-2026 season.
