The San Francisco 49ers are riddled with injuries going into the Thursday Night’s clash against their Rams, and three key offensive players were ruled out today.
Starting quarterback Brock Purdy was at the top of the list of players ruled out. After missing two games, Purdy came back last week in a loss against the Jaguars. He threw for 309 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions in the 26-21 loss. His injury is designated as a toe injury.
Mac Jones will be replacing Purdy. Jones won both games he started. In those starts, Jones completed 66.3% of his passes for 563 yards, four touchdowns and one interception. He will get the nod against the Rams on Thursday night.
Next up on the players ruled out is wide receiver Ricky Pearsall. Pearsall suffered a knee injury after landing awkwardly on a catch against Jacksonville. Pearsall was beginning to emerge as the team's top receiver before he sustained the injury. He is not expected to be out too long but will miss Thursday night.
The 49ers will be without another receiver who was the second biggest threat, Jauan Jennings. Jennigs is battling rib and ankle injuries. He also got hurt against Jacksonville, and although it may not be severe, getting ready on the short week is always a lot harder.

To make things even worse, Brandon Aiyuk is still out following an ACL injury dating back to last year, and star tight end George Kittle is on the injured reserved after he sustained an injury at the start of the season.
Jones and the Niners offense will have their work cut out for them, especially against a strong Rams side. Running back Christian McCaffery will play a huge role in the game as he has returned to his best form following an injury-ridden season all last year.
Players like Kendrick Bourne, Demarcus Robinson, Skyy Moore, and Jake Tonges will have to step up big time to help out Jones. If they are unable to do so, the 49ers will be in for a long night in Los Angeles.
