Vikings starting running back Aaron Jones has officially been placed on IR and will miss a minimum of 4 weeks.

Jones had exited the game against the Atlanta Falcons in the fourth quarter because of the injury and did not return.

The Vikings are expected to re-sign Cam Akers to help fill the void for the next few weeks Jones is out. Minnesota also has Jordan Mason, who they signed from San Francisco last season to help keep the running game alive.

Jones started out the season with 46 rushing yards on 13 carries. He also caught three passes for 44 yards and a touchdown which helped the Vikings beat the Bears in a comeback win in Week 1.

The Vikings will need everyone to step up, as they are now not only missing their starting running back, but also their new starting quarterback JJ McCarthy who has already been ruled out with a ankle injury. The Vikings face the Bengals this week, who are also struggling with injuries.
