The Buffalo Bills open Week 3 of the 2025 NFL season in a primetime Thursday Night Football matchup against their divisional Rival, the Miami Dolphins.
Buffalo has won six consecutive games against Miami and has won 14 of the last 16 matchups; however, it will be without two of its defensive stars tonight. Nonetheless, while the Bills' defense will have a few holes, their offense has been nearly flawless through the first two weeks, and looks to move to 3-0 for the second straight season.
Buffalo Bills TNF Preview:
Buffalo can run up the score:
Over the Bills' first two games, Buffalo has averaged 35.5 points per game, and pummeled the New York Jets 30-10 in Week 2.
Miami has allowed 33 points in each of its first two weeks, giving up an average of 390 yards per game, resulting in losses to the Indianapolis Colts and the New England Patriots.
Buffalo is averaging 453 yards per game, an offensive masterclass that starts at the helm with quarterback Josh Allen.
The Bills' signal caller has thrown for 542 yards and two touchdowns entering Week 3, and has rushed for 89 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries. His dual-threat ability has not only freed up receivers like Keon Coleman, who leads Buffalo in receptions (11) and receiving yards (138), but has also bolstered the Bills' running game.
Running back James Cook is having a stellar start to 2025. He has racked up 176 yards and three touchdowns on the ground, and has picked up 61 yards receiving on just six receptions.
Buffalo's offense has been nearly seamless. While Cook and tight end Dalton Kincaid have both coughed up the football, the Bills have yet to lose a fumble, and Allen hasn't thrown an interception. They are 2+ in the turnover margin.
Missing defensive pieces:
Head coach Sean McDermott said in his Wednesday interview that defensive tackle Ed Oliver and linebacker Matt Milano have been ruled out for the Bills' Week 3 Thursday night matchup against the Miami Dolphins.
Oliver will miss his second consecutive game with an ankle injury after a strong performance in Buffalo's Week 1 win over the Baltimore Ravens. He was stepped on in practice last week, causing him to miss Week 2, and now a pivotal AFC East matchup on Thursday.
Milano, who suffered a pectoral injury in Sunday's 30-10 win over the New York Jets, did not play the entire second half.
McDermott said that it was too early to tell how long Milano would be out. He has missed significant time the past two seasons with various injuries.
"What I've been told is it's too early until they really see how this thing settles in, if you will, or plays itself out in terms of the days following the injury, as it relates to, I think that'll have a direct impact on how long he's out," McDermott said of Milano's injury.
Linebacker Dorian Williams is set to start in his place.
Kickoff: Thursday, September 18 vs. Miami Dolphins (8:15 p.m. ET on AMZN)
