The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have ruled out their veteran wide receiver Chris Godwin Jr. when they host the San Francisco 49ers in Week 6 of the NFL Season.
The six-foot-one, 209-pound receiver has been ruled out for Sunday's contest after suffering a fibula injury last week against the Seattle Seahawks. After being evaluated throughout the week, head coach Todd Bowles said Friday that Godwin is "week-to-week."
Furthermore, Bowles mentioned that Godwin is also dealing with a new injury, which is unrelated to the dislocated ankle that he suffered in October of last season. That injury forced the 29-year-old to undergo two surgeries and an 11-month recovery before returning to the field this season.
Since his return, Godwin has recorded six receptions for 52 yards in the two games he has played this season. In the Bucs' 31-25 Week 4 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, Godwin was targeted 10 times, resulting in three receptions for 26 yards. He mirrored his production in Tampa Bay's 38-25 Week 6 win over Seattle, tallying four receptions, and snagged three catches for 26 yards.
However, he was seen limping off the field in the Buccaneers' win over the Seahawks.
He will now join fellow wide receiver Mike Evans on the sideline, who has been inactive with a hamstring injury for the past two games and is also out this week.
