Washington Commanders QB Jayden Daniels

The Washington Commanders are looking to start their 2025 season 2-0 for the first time since 2023, but to do so they will have to travel to Green Bay to take on the Packers on Thursday night football.

The Commanders had a strong showing in their 21-6 Week 1 over the New York Giants, but face a much tougher opponent in Week 2.

The Packers lead the all-time regular-season series 20-16-1 and have won two of the three postseason meetings. They’ve also built a fortress at home against Washington, posting a 13-5-1 regular-season record at Lambeau, including victories in each of the last six contests played in Green Bay.

That said, Washington claimed the most recent meeting in 2022 at FedExField, 23-21, a reminder that this rivalry remains competitive. Recent history suggests that when these teams meet, the outcomes aren’t always close — five of the last seven games have been decided by two touchdowns or more.

Washington's offense will need to come out firing against one of the NFC's elite defense's, and they have the firepower to do it. Not just in reigning Offensive Rookie of the Year Jayden Daniels, and newly resigned Terry McLaurin, but with new additions of Deebo Samuel, and rookie running back Jacory Croskey-Merritt.

Deebo was Washington's player of the game in Week 1, tallying seven catches for 77 yards, and rushing for 19 yards and a touchdown that sealed the game against New York.

Croskey-Merritt was phenomenal in his Commanders debut, rushing for 82 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries.

Jayden Daniels found seven different recievers in Week 1, with Samuel being his favorite with 10 targets, more than double his second favorite target TE Zach Ertz (5), who finished the game with three catches for 26 yards and a touchdown.

Terry McLaurin will be the deciding facor against the Packers. He had a quiet outing in his first game since resigning with the Commanders - two catches for 27 yards - but Green Bay will be without its top cornerback Jaire Alexander for the first time since 2018, after he was traded to the Ravens in the offseason.

Washington's defense looked strong in Week 1, but they will face a much tougher Packers team, which put up 27 points on the reigning back-to-back NFC North Champions in Week 1.

Kickoff will be at 8:15 p.m. ET on AMZN.
