Eagles vs. Raiders Dec. 14

Jalen Hurts threw three touchdown passes, Saquon Barkley added a short rushing score and the Eagles dominated on both sides of the ball in a 31-0 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday. The win snapped a three-game losing streak and marked Philadelphia’s first shutout in seven years.

Philadelphia improved to 9-5, steadying itself after weeks of scrutiny and inconsistent play. The Eagles’ offense, which had struggled to reach the end zone in recent games, topped 21 points for the first time in six outings and looked balanced despite frigid, snowy conditions.

Hurts rebounded from his worst performance as a pro, finishing 12 of 15 for 175 yards. He opened the scoring with a shovel-pass touchdown to Dallas Goedert and later connected with DeVonta Smith for a 44-yard gain that set up a field goal and a 10-0 lead. Barkley’s 2-yard touchdown run pushed the advantage to 17-0 at halftime.

Philadelphia put the game away in the second half. Hurts hit Goedert again on a 4-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter, then capped the rout early in the fourth with a 27-yard strike to A.J. Brown to make it 31-0.

The Eagles’ defense was just as dominant, holding Las Vegas to 75 total yards and only 46 on the ground. It was Philadelphia’s first shutout since December 2018 and sent the Raiders to their eighth consecutive loss.

Las Vegas fell to 2-12 and struggled mightily in the first start for quarterback Kenny Pickett, who was filling in for the injured Geno Smith. Pickett threw for just 64 yards and was sacked four times as the Raiders rarely threatened.

Barkley finished with 78 rushing yards and his touchdown, helping Philadelphia control the tempo and quiet outside criticism after recent losses. The victory also kept the Eagles firmly in control of the NFC East race with a favorable schedule ahead.

Injuries

Hurts and Barkley were briefly evaluated by trainers during the game but returned and finished the contest. Both said afterward they were fine.
