In what seems like a tale as old as time, the Buffalo Bills' defense will be without two of its best defensive players in Week 3.
Head coach Sean McDermott said in his Wednesday interview that defensive tackle Ed Oliver and linebacker Matt Milano have been ruled out for the Bills' Week 3 Thursday night matchup against the Miami Dolphins.
Oliver will miss his second consecutive game with an ankle injury after a strong performance in Buffalo's Week 1 win over the Baltimore Ravens. He was stepped on in practice last week, causing him to miss Week 2, and now a pivotal AFC East matchup on Thursday.
Milano, who suffered a pectoral injury in Sunday's 30-10 win over the New York Jets, did not play the entire second half.
McDermott said that it was too early to tell how long Milano would be out. He has missed significant time the past two seasons with various injuries.
"What I've been told is it's too early until they really see how this thing settles in, if you will, or plays itself out in terms of the days following the injury, as it relates to, I think that'll have a direct impact on how long he's out," McDermott said of Milano's injury.
Linebacker Dorian Williams is set to start in his place.
Buffalo has won six consecutive games against Miami and has won 14 of the last 16 matchups, but without two of their defensive stars in a Thursday night primetime matchup, the Bills' defense will have a few holes in it.
