Jaxson Dart

The New York Giants (1-4) will host the Philadelphia Eagles (4-1) in MetLife Stadium on Thursday night, October 9 to in search for a bounce back win after their Week 5 loss to the New Orleans Saints.

Quarterback Jaxson Dart will make his third career start against the Eagles tonight after completing 13-of-20 casses for 111 yards and a touchdown in a Week 3 win over the Los Angeles Chargers, and throwing 26-of-40 for 202 yards and two touchdowns on Sunday in a loss to New Orleans.

Dart has also been a dual-threat quarterback in the backfield, totaling 109 yards in his last two games. He tallied 10 carries for 54 yards against the Chargers and seven carries for 55 yards against the Saints.

With Malik Nabers being sideines with a torn ACL, fellow rookie running back Cam Skattebo has become the pulse of the Giants offense. He has recorded 240 yards and two touchdowns on the ground, while racking up 18 receptions for 143 yards through the air.

Since Dart has taken over the role of starting qurterback, Skattebo's numbers have skyroketed. Through the first three weeks of the season, the rookie averaged 7.6 carries and 34 rushing yards per game. But since Dart has been a starter, he 20 carries and 69 yards over the past two weeks.

Not only is Nabers not an option for Dart at receiver, but Darius Slayton has been ruled out for Thursday night with a hamstring injury. He has recorded 12 catches on 18 targets for 166 yards this season, averaging 33.2 receiving yards per game. His role was expected to be amplified against the New Orleans Saints in Week 5, but he had a lackluster performance in New York's loss to New Orleans.

The 28-year-old receiver only tallied three catches on six targets for 31 yards, with multiple drops and a blatant fumble near the end of the first half. Outside of his Week 1 performance against the Washington Commanders, it was his worst outing of the season.

Now with Slayton out against the Eagles, fellow receivers Wan'Dale Robinson and Jalin Hyatt will need to be Jaxson Dart's top targets on Thursday night.

This will be the 183 reglar season matchup between these two divisonal rivals, where Philadelphia leads the series 93-87-2. However, New York is 50-41-1 when facing the Eagles at home. Yet, the Giants last victory over Philadelphia came late in the 2023 season when they knocked off the Eagles 27-10, at home.
