New York Jets head coach Aaron Glenn announced on Wednesday that quarterback Brady Cook will start in New York's Week 16 matchup with the New Orleans Saints.

Cook first took over the Jets offense in Week 13, when Tyrod Taylor went down with a groin injury early against the Miami Dolphins. Cook stepped in and completed 14 of 30 passes for 163 yards and threw two interceptions in New York's 34-10 loss. Most notably, he was sacked six times for a loss of 27 yards, and finished with a QBR of 6.5, per ESPN.

Due to Taylor's injury and starting quarterback Justin Fields' knee injury, Cook was awarded the start in Week 14 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. However, it resulted in yet another blowout loss, as the Jets fell 48-20 at the hands of a six-touchdown performance from Jacksonville quarterback Trevor Lawrence.

However, Cook threw his first and only touchdown of the season, and completed 22 of 33 attempts for 176 yards, all career-highs. But his career-high performance did not come without any lows. Cook threw a career-high three interceptions and was sacked three times for a loss of 22 yards.

Glenn also said that the backup quarterback will be determined by whoever - Taylor or Fields - is healthiest by gameday.
