It has been quite the year for Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen. The Wyoming alum has quickly racked up three major life events in the last 100 days, getting engaged, winning his first NFL MVP award, and signing the largest contract in NFL history. First reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the reigning MVP signed the largest recorded contract in NFL history after receiving a six-year, $330 million contract that includes $250 million guaranteed. Allen still had four years remaining on his contract that would have kept him Buffalo until 2028 but now finds the 28-year old quarterback in a Bills uniform for another six seasons where he will be 34 when he enters his final year of this new extension.
In recent days, the Bills now have extended:
— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) March 9, 2025
🏈QB Josh Allen — 6 years, $330 million.
🏈DE Gregory Rousseau — 4 years, $80 million.
🏈LB Terrell Bernard — 4 years, $50M million.
🏈WR Khalil Shakir — 4-years, $53 million https://t.co/3znytGE3rI
Allen proved this past season that he is worth every penny after throwing for 4,367 yards, 32 touchdowns and six interceptions while leading the Bills to the number two seed in the AFC and their first AFC Championship berth since 2020. With this extension Allen now moves from 14th-highest average annual value among quarterbacks ($43 million) to tied for second ($55 million). The only quarterback that makes more annually than Allen is Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott. This extension comes in the wake of resigning wide out Khalil Shakir as well as Allen’s vast improvement in the turnover column, where he only had eight all season, a career low. While the Bills have secured their franchise quarterback for the future, it will be interesting to see what other pieces the Bills can bring in on offense to help support the reigning NFL MVP. Shakir has been Allen’s favorite pass catcher but the Bills will need to bring in more veteran players in hopes of giving Allen more weapons to help utilize the long list of abilities Allen possesses.
