Justin Fields is in concussion protocol

Justin Fields has entered concussion protocol, New York Jets' head coach Aaron Glenn confirmed during the Jets' Monday morning media availability.

"He's in the protocol right now," Glenn said. "It's always a hard one right now to try to evaluate until we get more information. I'm sure I'll be giving you guys more information as the week progresses."

Fields was 3-of-11 passing, threw for 27 yards, rushed for 49 yards on five carries, and was sacked twice in New York's 30-10 loss to Buffalo in Week 2.

Early in the fourth quarter, Fields was sacked for a nine-yard loss by Joey Bosa, forcing him to exit the game to be replaced by veteran quarterback Tyrod Taylor.

Taylor finished the game 7-of-11 passing for 56 yards and a touchdown, but like Fields, was sacked twice. He rushed for 21 yards on three carries.

If Fields is not healthy for the Jets' Week 3 matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Taylor will likely he handed the reins to the Jets offense.
