The Baltimore Ravens continue to hold their breath as they await the test results on the hamstring injury of franchise quarterback Lamar Jackson. Jackson injured his right hamstring midway through the third quarter of the Ravens’ 37-20 loss in Kansas City on Sunday afternoon after being sacked by Chiefs defensive end George Karlaftis. The injury to Jackson highlights a number of injuries to Ravens starters in this loss, five, where the Ravens lost three defensive starters and a key member of their offensive line. Coach John Harbaugh stated that he “didn’t know the severity of the injury” which will raise eyebrows in the Ravens organization after the team has now started the season at 1-3. This is only the third time in history that the Baltimore Ravens have started a season at 1-3, with the other two times coming in 2005 and 2015. In the previous two times Baltimore started 1-3, they missed the playoffs in each of those seasons.

With Jackson still awaiting a timetable for recovery and the severity of his injury, the Ravens look like they will also be without linebacker Roquan Smith who also suffered a hamstring injury, cornerbacks Marlon Humphrey (calf), and Nate Wiggins (elbow). Offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley injured his ankle in the double digit loss, a crushing blow to a Ravens offense that has had trouble protecting the quarterback so far this season. The Chiefs sacked Jackson twice and Jackson was sacked seven times on Week 3 Monday Night Football. Jackson faced pressure on 56% of his dropbacks against the Chiefs, the highest of his career. The Ravens opened the 2025 NFL season as one of the top three teams to win the Super Bowl, but now sitting at 1-3 and unsure of when your franchise quarterback will return is not a promising recipe to make a playoff run. If Jackson cannot play in Week 5, Cooper Rush is expected to be the starting quarterback.
