The Detroit Lions dominated the Vikings on Sunday Night Football and clinched to top seed and bye in the NFC.
The Vikings kept it close for most of the game, but let it slip late in the third quarter and never regrouped. They had numerous chances in the red zone, including seven straight plays from goal-to-go scenarios without scoring a touchdown. They also turned it over on downs later in the game, after failing to punch it in from the goal line again. Had they succeeded in the red one, they could be looking at rest next week, but instead have to travel to Los Angeles to take on the Rams Monday night.

The Lions' offense has been dominant all year, entering the final week of the season putting up 33.3 points per game. They were right around this number again in the final week of the season, giving them a 31-9 win to improve to 15-2.
Jared Goff did not have his best game, committing multiple turnovers, but played well enough to get the job done. Goff completed 27 of 33 passes for 231 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions. This was his first game in a month with an interception, but he will have two weeks to recover and get back into the right mindset.
Jahmyr Gibbs was the clear MVP of this game for the Lions. He carried the ball 23 times for 139 yards and three touchdowns. He also caught five passes for 31 yards and another touchdown. His four touchdowns Sunday accounted for every one scored in the game, and put him on top of the NFL in touchdowns this season,

Amon-Ra St. Brown ended his season on a strong note catching six passes for 77 yards. Sam LaPorta also had a decent game catching seven passes for 63 yards.
Defensively, the Lions continued to look good despite being injured all over. They also lost rookie Terrion Arnold tonight after he got carted off the field with a foot injury, but will try and get as healthy as possible during their bye week.
For the Vikings, disappointment can definitely set in, but they need to wash this game out of their minds quickly. Having to play on the road despite a 14-3 record is not fun at all, but is the way the league is set up. Sam Darnold struggled tonight despite being good all season and needs to forget this game and bounce back against the Rams.
With the playoffs going through Detroit, this matchup is very possible to see again in the coming weeks, as these two teams have looked like the best in the league for most of the year. The Lions will be the favorite to make the Super Bowl out of the NFC and will try and bounce back from their Conference Championship exit from last season.
