Micah Parsons shipped to Packers in blockbuster trade

Micah Parsons is heading to Green Bay.

The Cowboys are sending their All-Pro pass rusher to the Packers in exchange for two future first-rounders (2026 and 2027) and veteran defensive lineman Kenny Clark, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Tom Pelissero and Jane Slater. Dallas quickly made the trade official.

Parsons won’t just be suiting up in green and gold—he’s cashing in big. He’s expected to sign a four-year, $188 million deal with $136 million guaranteed, making him the highest-paid non-quarterback in league history at $47 million per season.

It’s a stunning divorce that felt unthinkable not long ago. Yes, Parsons’ contract standoff with the Cowboys had dragged out, but few could imagine Jerry Jones letting go of a generational talent just as he enters his prime. Turns out, Dallas saw things differently.

“We did think it was in the best interest of our organization,” Jones said at a hastily called press conference Thursday evening.

Last year in 13 games, Parsons tallied 30 tackles, 12 sacks, and two forced fumbles in 2024, arguably his worst season as a pro since entering the NFL in 2021. The six-foot-three, 254-pound defensive end became a household name after his rookie season when he posted 64 tackles, 13 sacks and three forced fumbles.

It’s vintage Jerry—reminiscent of the Herschel Walker deal back in ’89—making a move no one else would dare. While Parsons’ camp made one last push for an extension after word of trade interest surfaced, the Cowboys’ response was simple: “play on the fifth year or leave.”

Now, he’s leaving. And the ripple effects of this move could shape the NFL for years to come.
