Raiders MNF preview

The Las Vegas Raiders head into Monday Night Football with a tough test against the Los Angeles Chargers’ defense in Week 2.

Raiders MNF preview:

Las Vegas gained nearly 400 yards of offense in Week 1 under Chip Kelly, but Jim Harbaugh’s unit held the Kansas City Chiefs to just 21 points, signaling the challenges ahead for the Raiders.

Running back Ashton Jeanty will need to bounce back after being limited to 2.0 yards per carry for 38 yards and a touchdown in his NFL debut. The Chargers’ defensive front is deep, with nose tackle Teair Tart clogging lanes, but linebacker Daiyan Henley will be the player Jeanty must consistently navigate to find running room.

Wide receiver Jakobi Meyers draws a tough assignment against cornerbacks Cam Hart and Donte Jackson, who will shadow the Raiders’ top target. Meyers had 10 targets in Week 1, catching eight passes for 97 yards, and will need to create separation against Los Angeles’ revamped secondary. Meanwhile, right tackle DJ Glaze faces a formidable Chargers pass-rush rotation that includes Khalil Mack, Bud Dupree, Kyle Kennard, and Tuli Tuipulotu. Keeping quarterback Geno Smith upright will be critical if the Raiders hope to find success on Monday night.

Kickoff: Monday, September 15 vs. Los Angeles Chargers (10:00 p.m. ET on ESPN)
