The Las Vegas Raiders' tight end room just got smaller.
Tight end Michael Mayer has been ruled out of the Raiders' Week 3 contest against the Washington Commanders due to a concussion. In an attempt to tackle Commanders' punt returner Jaylin Lane, Mayer launched himself at Lane's hip with the crown of his helmet, a stiff tackle that forced him to be evaluated.

Mayer now joins fellow tight end Brock Bowers on the sidelines and adds to a depleted tight end room. Mayer will need to pass the NFL's concussion protocol this week in order to suit up for the Raiders' Week 4 matchup against the Chicago Bears.
