Seahawks vs. Colts Dec. 14

Seattle Seahawks kicker Jason Myers carried his team to victory Sunday, connecting on a franchise-record six field goals, including a 56-yarder with 29 seconds left, as the Seahawks edged the Indianapolis Colts 18-16 without scoring a touchdown.

Myers has made 24 of his last 25 field-goal attempts, with his only miss a 61-yard try on Nov. 16, and leads the NFL with a career-best 154 points this season. His other successful kicks came from 30, 32, 46, 47, and 52 yards, giving the Seahawks (11-3) just enough to hold off 44-year-old quarterback Philip Rivers, making his first NFL start in nearly five years.

Rivers, filling in for the injured Daniel Jones, threw his first touchdown pass since the Colts’ playoff loss to Buffalo in January 2021, connecting with Josh Downs for an 8-yard score that gave Indianapolis (8-6) a 13-3 lead.

Despite Rivers’ performance, Seattle’s offense, led by Sam Darnold, steadily moved the ball. Darnold completed 22 of 36 passes for 271 yards, orchestrating the game-winning drive for Myers’ 56-yard kick. Rashid Shaheed provided a spark with a 28-yard kickoff return, and his two receptions for 25 yards helped set up the decisive field goal.

Wideout Jaxon Smith-Njigba bounced back after two sub-100-yard games, hauling in seven catches for 113 yards, including a 39-yard reception that set up Myers’ fifth field goal, giving Seattle a 15-13 lead.

The Seahawks also contained NFL rushing leader Jonathan Taylor, holding him to 87 yards on 25 carries.

Rashid Shaheed has emerged as a reliable target over the last two games, recording 12 catches for 141 yards, including seven for 74 yards Sunday.
