Josh Allen drops back to pass

The Buffalo Bills dominated the Denver Broncos on Sunday, winning 31-7 and pitching a shutout after the first drive of the game.

Bo Nix and the Broncos started off strong, scoring a 43-yard touchdown on the opening possession of the game, but never scored again afterward.

Going into halftime, it was only a 10-7 game, but Buffalo came out of the half strong and scored on each drive they had for the rest of the game, up until they went into victory formation.

Josh Allen played in his full MVP form, completing 20 of 26 passes for 272 yards and two touchdowns. Allen also had several big carries and finished the day with 46 rushing yards.

Curtis Samuel was the Bills’ top receiver, going for 68 yards and a long touchdown on three receptions. Saumel’s touchdown put the icing on the cake for the Bills, giving them a three-score lead in the fourth quarter.

Khalil Shakir also played a good game, catching six passes for 61 yards. Ty Johnson also got in on the scoring, hauling in a 24-yard touchdown in the final minutes of the third quarter. Keon Coleman and Amari Cooper were both kept silent, but that did not end up making a difference in the game.

James Cook was dominant on the ground, going for 120 yards and a touchdown on 23 carries. Johnson was also decent on the ground, rushing the ball nine times for 44 yards. The Bills' 210 total rushing yards almost outgained the Broncos' 224 total yards in the game.

Nix’s playoff debut was spoiled, and his promising rookie season has now come to an end. Nix completed 13 of 22 passes for 144 yards and the touchdown. He also led the rushing game with 43 yards on four carries.

Troy Franklin was the recipient of the deep touchdown and finished his day with two catches for 54 yards. Cortland Sutton had an effective game as well, catching five passes for 75 yards.

On the ground, the Broncos were bottled up. Javonte Williams had 29 yards on seven carries and was the top rusher other than Nix.

Ultimately, Buffalo was simply the better side and that was expected. The Broncos showed fight all season but it was not enough to beat this great Bills team. Buffalo will host Lamar Jackson and the Ravens next weekend, a showdown that is almost guaranteed to give us a classic game that will be talked about for years. The two frontrunners for MVP will duke it out on the biggest stage, and the winner will advance to the AFC Championship game.
