Top two takeaways from Cowboys’ 40-37 overtime win over Giants

The Dallas Cowboys pulled off a wild 40-37 overtime victory against the New York Giants in a game full of big plays, penalties, and lead changes. After a back-and-forth battle and a crazy fourth quarter, Dallas survived to capture its first win of the season.

Top two takeaways from Cowboys’ 40-37 overtime win over Giants:

Dak Prescott leads a late-game comeback

Dak Prescott showcased his poise in a high-pressure environment, orchestrating multiple scoring drives in the fourth quarter to keep Dallas in the game.

Despite a flag-filled affair that gave New York extra opportunities, Prescott’s precision passing, including critical connections with CeeDee Lamb, KaVontae Turpin, and George Pickens, allowed the Cowboys to retake the lead late.

Prescott also used his legs effectively on a scramble in overtime to move the offense into field-goal range, setting up Aubrey’s game-winning kick.

Cowboys capitalize on Giants’ mistakes

Dallas thrived thanks to New York’s penalties and defensive lapses. Offset fouls and critical mistakes, such as a botched overtime snap and defensive miscues, extended drives and gave Dallas multiple second chances.

Trevon Diggs and the secondary had trouble containing deep passes throughout the game, but opportunistic play — especially Donovan Wilson’s interception in overtime — helped swing the momentum. Ultimately, the Cowboys made the most of New York’s miscues to secure a thrilling road victory.
