The New York Giants fell to 0-2 after a heartbreaking 40-37 overtime loss to the Dallas Cowboys. Despite putting up more than 30 points on the road for the first time since 2023, the Giants’ defense couldn’t hold up late, surrendering the lead three times in the fourth quarter before falling as time expired in overtime.

Russell Wilson silences the doubters
After a week of speculation about whether rookie Jaxson Dart might soon take over, Russell Wilson delivered one of the best games of his career.
The veteran quarterback threw for 450 yards and three touchdowns, keeping the Giants in a shootout with Dallas. Wilson spread the ball around but relied heavily on Wan’Dale Robinson and Malik Nabers, who combined for over 300 receiving yards and three scores.
Dart did get a few snaps in the red zone, leading a short touchdown drive, but Wilson’s performance should quiet the calls for a quarterback change — at least for now.
Penalties and red zone mistakes cost New York
The Giants’ biggest enemy might have been themselves.
They were flagged 14 times for 160 yards, breaking a franchise record and killing multiple drives.
Left tackle James Hudson III had a nightmare outing, becoming the first NFL player this century to draw four penalties on a single drive, one of which wiped away a key 10-yard run. Combined with a red-zone performance that went just 1-for-5, the Giants left too many points on the field — points that could have made the difference in a game that went down to the wire.
