Top two takeaways from Seahawks' 31-17 win over Steelers

The Seattle Seahawks bounced back from their Week 1 loss with a convincing 31-17 road win over the Pittsburgh Steelers, looking much more like the team many expected to see in 2025.

Top two takeaways from Seahawks' 31-17 win over Steelers:

1. Sam Darnold and Kenneth Walker III Powered the Offense

Seattle’s offense came alive behind Sam Darnold’s best game as a Seahawk and a dominant day from Kenneth Walker III.

Darnold threw for 295 yards and two touchdowns while showing poise in a hostile road environment, and Walker exploded for 105 yards on just 13 carries, including a 3rd-and-19 touchdown run that sealed the win. Their combined production was exactly what Seattle needed after a sluggish Week 1 performance.

2. The Defense Completely Shut Down Pittsburgh

Even without Nick Emmanwori and Devon Witherspoon, Seattle’s defense suffocated Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers' offense.

The key turning point came in the third quarter when Derion Kendrick intercepted Rodgers in the end zone, stopping a potential go-ahead score. From there, the Seahawks controlled the game, holding Pittsburgh to just 17 points and delivering the kind of defensive effort Pete Carroll loves.
