Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill is officially done for the season after dislocating his left knee, tearing multiple ligaments, including his ACL, in the Dolphins 27-21 win over the New York Jets on Monday night. Sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter Tuesday morning about the additional ligament tears, and Hill was kept overnight in a Miami hospital after receiving multiple scans and tests on his season-ending injury. Our experts at ThePredictors.com have stated that Hill’s season is definitely over and his recovery time could bleed into the 2026 season.

From my perspective as an orthopaedic knee surgeon, unfortunately, Hill’s 2025 season is over. The timeline beyond that depends on the exact structures injured and what ultimately needs to be repaired.

Hill had a great start to this AFC East divisional rivalry, hauling in six catches for 67 yards before getting carted off the field and immediately put into an air cast. Hill has only missed one game in his four seasons with the Dolphins (2023), which comes at an even greater cost as the Dolphins finally found their names in the win column after starting the season 0-3. With Hill out the Dolphins will now look to three players that can hopefully even somewhat fill the role of what Tyreek Hill did for this Dolphins offense.
Thank you guys for the prayers, I feel all the love. ❤️ here we go✌🏿 pic.twitter.com/oSOdG9zaJ9

The first player that everyone should have their eyes on is Miami’s now WR1 in Jaylen Waddle. Waddle through four games this season has 17 catches for 185 yards and two touchdowns while averaging 10.9 yards per catch. In Waddle’s first three seasons in the NFL, he eclipsed 1,000 plus receiving yards in each of those seasons and has proven to be a reliable WR2 for the Dolphins. All eyes are now on the Alabama alum whose work load will increase heavily after losing their best play maker. It will be interesting to see how Waddle deals with the best corners shadowing him throughout the rest of the season. I do not have high hopes for Waddle purely because of the inconsistent quarterback play that the Dolphins have had to start this season.
The next wide out that will garner a lot of attention for the Dolphins is Malik Washington. Washington was drafted in the sixth round of the 2024 NFL Draft out of Virginia. Washington had 26 receptions on 36 targets for 223 yards in his rookie season with the Dolphins and through four games this season has eight catches for 47 yards on 15 targets. Washington’s role will increase as well as he is projected to be the WR2 for the Dolphins with a great opportunity to stake his claim into this offense especially as a sixth round pick.
The final player that you should have your eye on is veteran tight end Darren Waller. Waller made his season debut last night after retiring last season. Waller made an immediate impact for the Dolphins, scoring their first touchdown of the game and then following it up with another touchdown catch to help cement their win over the now 0-4 New York Jets. Waller only had three catches for 27 yards last night but two of those catches were touchdowns. In his tenth season in the NFL Waller has hauled in a total of 353 receptions for 4,151 yards and 22 touchdowns on 505 targets. With the veteran leadership and experience gone with Hill going down, the Dolphins will need Waller to step up on the field and in the locker room if the Dolphins want to continue to taste victory.
