The Las Vegas Raiders have added depth to their secondary, trading an undisclosed 2026 sixth-round pick to the Buffalo Bills in exchange for cornerback Taron Johnson and an undisclosed 2026 seventh-round selection, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Sunday night.
Johnson, 29, had been scheduled for release by Buffalo, but the transaction was completed via trade before becoming official. The veteran cornerback will join a Raiders defense looking to rebound after a difficult 2025 campaign.
Since being selected in the fourth round in 2018, Johnson has been a reliable, versatile contributor for the Bills. He played in all 17 games in 2023, helping Buffalo win the AFC East with an 11-6 record under Sean McDermott. In 2025, Johnson appeared in 11 games (eight starts), recording 57 tackles, one tackle for loss, and four passes defended, earning a 60.5 PFF grade, ranking 66th among 114 qualified cornerbacks.
The trade follows Las Vegas’s decision to move pass rusher Maxx Crosby to Baltimore, part of the team’s offseason efforts to address a defense that struggled throughout last season.
