Brandon Aiyuk

It is official. Brandon Aiyuk is officially done as a San Francisco 49er. General Manager John Lynch told the press, "It's safe to say he's played his last snap as a Niner," in a press conference on Wednesday. ESPN reporter Nick Wagoner was first to report the news.

The 27-year-old spent five seasons with San Fransisco (not including 2025-26) where he tallied 294 receptions for 4,305 receiving yards and 25 touchdowns in 69 games. He logged back-to-back 1000-plus yard receiving seasons in 2022 and 2023, and led the team in receptions both years.

Aiyuk was apart of the Niners 2024 NFC Championship squad, and fell just short to the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LVIII. However, after tearing his ACL and MCL in the middle of his 2024 campaign, ironically against the Chiefs again.

He has not played since Week 7 of 2024, and after disputes over his contract this past summer, Aiyuk sat out the entirety of the 2025 season, leaving running back Christian McCaffrey as the rushing (1,202) and reception (924) yard leader.

It is unclear about what Aiyuk's future will hold, but it is clear that it wont be in San Francisco.
