The Denver Broncos are keeping Davis Webb in the building, promoting the 31-year-old from pass game coordinator and quarterbacks coach to offensive coordinator. The move continues Sean Payton’s preference for continuity as Denver reshapes its offensive staff following the dismissal of Joe Lombardi.

Webb’s ascent has been swift. A former NFL quarterback turned coach, he drew significant attention during this hiring cycle, interviewing for head coaching vacancies in Baltimore, Buffalo and Las Vegas. After withdrawing from consideration for the Raiders job, a return to Denver in an expanded role always seemed like the most natural landing spot.

The promotion also triggers another internal move. Logan Kilgore, previously an offensive quality control coach, steps into Webb’s old role as quarterbacks coach, further reinforcing Payton’s trust in developing from within.

While Webb now carries the offensive coordinator title, the structure of Denver’s offense remains somewhat fluid. Payton has handled play-calling duties since arriving in Denver, and it’s unclear whether he will relinquish those responsibilities or continue to orchestrate the offense on game days. Either way, Webb’s influence is expected to grow significantly, particularly in shaping the passing attack and continuing the development of Denver’s quarterbacks.

For the Broncos, the decision reflects confidence in a young coach whose stock has risen rapidly—and a belief that the next phase of the offense is best guided by someone already embedded in Payton’s vision.
