Breaking news out of Miami, Florida as the Dolphins release star wide receiver Tyreek Hill per ESPN’s Adam Schefter. This move frees up $22.8 million in Miami’s cap space which could be crucial for the Dolphins this off season as their quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is owed $54 million guaranteed in 2026. With Tua guaranteed that large sum and Hill coming off a torn ACL and dislocated knee, Miami seems to be gearing up for a rebuild this offseason, which will probably include releasing Tua given his performance the last couple seasons, seeing extended regression in his ability to successfully lead Miami’s offense.

Tyreek Hill left the Chiefs after losing in Super Bowl LV in 2021 to Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to join a young and upcoming Dolphins team that included Jaylen Waddle and first time head coach, at the time, Mike McDaniel. Hill will now be an unrestricted free agent for the first time in his career which raises the question of what team will take the chance on a wide receiver that is coming off a serious knee injury that is also turning 32 on March 1st. The eight-time Pro Bowler headlines the list of high profile players that were released in South Beach this morning with the other two being pass rusher Bradley Chubb and guard James Daniels.

Tyreek Hill’s stats with Dolphins

  • 54 games played

  • 2x First-Team All-Pro
