Philadelphia Eagles right tackle Lane Johnson has no plans to walk away from the game just yet.
The six-time Pro Bowler told The Philadelphia Inquirer that he intends to return for a 14th NFL season in 2026, extending a decorated career that began when the Eagles selected him fourth overall in the 2013 draft. Over 13 seasons, Johnson has developed into one of the league’s premier offensive linemen, earning two All-Pro selections and building a résumé that could eventually earn Hall of Fame consideration.
His value to Philadelphia was underscored during the 2025 season. Johnson missed eight games, including the team’s Wild Card playoff loss to San Francisco, and the offense faltered in his absence. The Eagles struggled to establish consistency in the run game — even with reigning 2024 AP NFL Offensive Player of the Year Saquon Barkley in the backfield — and dropped five of their final eight contests after Johnson exited the lineup following Week 11.
Now nearing his 36th birthday, Johnson is opting to return and anchor the right side once more. He’ll do so as part of an offensive line entering a period of transition, with longtime position coach Jeff Stoutland no longer on staff. For a unit that showed cracks without him, Johnson’s decision ensures stability — and a chance at unfinished business — in 2026.
