The Atlanta Falcons have agreed to a one-year, $2.5 million deal with running back Brian Robinson Jr., according to NFL Network.

Robinson steps into the role previously held by Tyler Allgeier, who departed in free agency to join the Arizona Cardinals. In Atlanta, he’ll serve as the primary complement to rising star Bijan Robinson in the Falcons’ backfield.

Robinson spent part of the 2025 season with the San Francisco 49ers, who acquired him last August as depth behind Christian McCaffrey following injuries to reserves Isaac Guerendo and Jordan James. However, with McCaffrey staying healthy, Robinson saw limited opportunities, finishing with career lows of 92 carries and 400 rushing yards. He added two touchdowns, averaged 4.3 yards per carry, and contributed on special teams as a kick returner alongside Skyy Moore.

Before his stint in San Francisco, Robinson was a key piece of the Washington Commanders offense, serving as their primary ball carrier for much of three seasons.

Over his career, the 27-year-old has totaled 2,729 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns, averaging 4.1 yards per carry. Robinson originally entered the league as a third-round pick (No. 98 overall) in the 2022 NFL Draft.

Now in Atlanta, he’ll look to carve out a consistent role in a backfield built around Bijan Robinson while providing depth and experience to the Falcons’ rushing attack.
