The Philadelphia Eagles have taken a major step in securing their defensive future, agreeing to a three-year, $78 million contract extension with defensive tackle Jordan Davis, including $65 million guaranteed, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Saturday. The team officially announced the deal on Sunday.
Davis was set to enter 2026 under the fifth-year option of his rookie contract, but the Eagles moved quickly to commit to the 6-foot-6, 336-pound powerhouse long term. The $26 million per year average on his new deal ranks tied for second among interior defensive linemen, alongside former teammate Milton Williams and behind the Kansas City Chiefs’ Chris Jones, according to Over the Cap.
Since being selected No. 13 overall in the 2022 NFL Draft, Davis has made an immediate impact. After a rotational rookie season, he has started 17 games in each of the past three campaigns, helping Philadelphia finish top-five in points allowed twice during that span. Known for his dominance against the run, Davis boasts a 71.6 PFF run defense grade, ranking 11th among interior defenders, while his rare combination of size and speed makes him a matchup nightmare.
Over four seasons, Davis has tallied 162 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, 12 quarterback hits, 10 passes defensed, and eight sacks, adding two postseason sacks during the Eagles’ 2024 Super Bowl run—one in the NFC Championship Game and another in Super Bowl LIX.
With Davis locked in, Philadelphia has secured one half of its interior defensive powerhouse, leaving partner Jalen Carter’s contract situation for another day. Carter is eligible for an extension but could also see his fifth-year option exercised, similar to Davis’s path before cashing in a year later.
For now, the Eagles can focus on returning to the top after a 2025 season that saw their championship run fall short, with Davis anchored firmly in the middle of their defense.
