Former Philadelphia Eagles safety Reed Blankenship is set to join the Houston Texans on a three-year, $24.75 million contract, agent Kyle McCarthy of Athletes First confirmed. The deal includes $16.5 million guaranteed.
An undrafted free agent out of Middle Tennessee State in 2022, Blankenship quickly turned from a longshot into a reliable contributor for the Eagles. He started four games as a rookie and maintained a consistent role over the next three seasons. Blankenship was a key part of Philadelphia’s 2024 championship-caliber defense, which ranked first in passing yards allowed (174.2) and second in opponent points per game (17.8).
During the 2025 season, he worked with a rotating cast opposite him due to injuries, and defensive coordinator Vic Fangio called him a “stabilizing player in our defense.” Over four seasons and 56 games in Philadelphia, Blankenship recorded nine interceptions, 23 passes defended, and 308 tackles, providing steady play both in the secondary and against the run.
