The New Orleans Saints continued their aggressive start to free agency by signing guard David Edwards to a contract worth more than $15 million per year, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported.
Edwards entered the offseason widely regarded as the top guard available and immediately fills a major need for a Saints offensive line that has gone through multiple lineup changes in recent seasons.
The soon-to-be 29-year-old spent the last two seasons with the Buffalo Bills, where he played on a team-friendly deal while establishing himself as a dependable starter. Known for his strength in the running game, Edwards also showed improvement in pass protection during the 2025 season.
His signing represents a significant investment by New Orleans, a franchise that has spent recent offseasons navigating tight salary-cap constraints. Adding Edwards signals a renewed commitment to stabilizing the offensive line.
The move should provide an immediate boost to head coach Kellen Moore’s offense and offer stronger protection for second-year quarterback Tyler Shough.
With Edwards anchoring the interior and running back Travis Etienne also joining the offense in free agency, the Saints appear intent on building a more balanced and reliable unit heading into the 2026 season.
