Travis Etienne Jr plans to sign with the New Orleans Saints after spending his first four seasons in the NFL in a Jaguars uniform. Etienne is from Louisiana and per ESPN’s Adam Schefter and his sources, it was very important for Etienne to be close to home thus pushing the former 25th overall pick of the 2021 NFL Draft to sign with the Saints. Etienne, who is 27, had 260 carries for 1,107 rushing yards and seven rushing touchdowns for the Jaguars last season. This 1,000 plus yard rushing season is the third time he has achieved that number in his four seasons with Jacksonville. It is even more impressive given Etienne achieved this while learning and adapting to an entirely new offense per it being Liam Coen’s first season as the head coach of the Jaguars.

Etienne bounced back from a down year in 2024 where he only rushed for 558 yards and only scored two rushing touchdowns to then finish the 2025 season with 13 total touchdowns, six of those being receiving which is a career high for Etienne who only had one receiving touchdown in his previous four seasons.

The Clemson alum missed his rookie season due to a Lisfranc injury but since then he has had a productive career in Jacksonville, and leaves the team that drafted him as their third all-time rushing list with 3,789 yards in only four seasons. Etienne totaled 5,136 scrimmage yards and 32 total touchdowns for the Jaguars and should find continued success in New Orleans given their current quarterback situation. With the signing of Etienne, it will be interesting to see where veteran running back Alvin Kamara goes now that Etienne is on the roster and Kamara is scheduled to be a free agent once the new league year starts.
