Brian Flores isn’t going anywhere, at least for now.

The Minnesota Vikings have signed Flores to a new contract to remain their defensive coordinator, NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero reported Wednesday. The team later confirmed the extension.

According to the report, the sides agreed to the deal last week, with the paperwork finalized Wednesday. Flores remains a candidate for the head coaching vacancies with the Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers, but if he doesn’t land one of those jobs, he will return to Minnesota to continue running the Vikings’ defense.

Flores, widely regarded as one of the NFL’s top defensive minds, was set to have his contract expire and attracted significant interest around the league. He interviewed for the Washington Commanders’ defensive coordinator position, but Minnesota moved quickly to secure his return. As it stands, the only path for Flores to leave the Twin Cities would be to take a head coaching job elsewhere.
