With a month remaining before the NBA playoffs commence, Phoenix signed veteran guard Isaiah Thomas to a 10-day contract.
Thomas last appeared in the NBA in 2022, when he played four games for the Los Angeles Lakers, averaging 9.2 points per game. The former two-time NBA All-Star, who once averaged 28.9 points per game with the Celtics in 2016, is set to join a star-studded roster in Phoenix with Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal.
Suns guard Booker injured his ankle on March 2nd in a loss to the Houston Rockets. Phoenix also dropped a game to the Oklahoma City Thunder the following day on March 3rd, with Booker ruled out in advance. As Booker looks to make a full recovery in the final month of the NBA regular season, the signing of Thomas allows the Suns to have a veteran guard play off the bench and evaluate Thomas as he plays against NBA competition for the first time in two years.
Thomas recently played four games in the NBA G League with the Salt Lake City Stars, averaging 32.5 points per game. The Suns face off against the Philidelphia 76ers in Phoenix at 10 p.m. ET, where Thomas is set to return to the Suns, where he played for one season in 2014.
